It seems as though world events have taken over the View. I cannot help but review what’s going on in this upside down world. Sometimes I must vent on the things that occur around us. I wish I could just report economic news and write a review of the way things seem to be going in our world of steel (in my view) and the myriad parts made from it.
James Foley
So, the sand rats beheaded American journalist James Foley and have threatened the United States with more American deaths if we do not concede to their demands (they want us to cease our airstrikes; in my view, increase them).
Mr. Foley had been taken hostage previously in Libya and underwent interrogation and other bullcrap during his incarceration there. Being a compassionate human being, he elected to go back into the morass of Syria’s civil war to continue to report on the hardships being endured by the populace in the war torn areas of the Middle East. He was kidnapped by the Islamic State as they are now called, and had been held captive along with some 20 other American journalists until his untimely and cruel death this week.
Haven’t heard a word from the president but I am quite sure the American people are galvanized against such terrorist acts and threats. Thing is, WE can’t do anything; the president must act on our behalf and on behalf of free people around the globe.
On Wednesday the president came off the golf course to make a 5 minute speech condemning the actions of the Islamic State (or ISIS or ISIL) in this incident, labeling them a cancer which the world must get rid of…then he went back to finish his golf game. I pray his cavalier attitude was meant to lead our enemies to believe there will be no response to this barbaric behavior but that we are in fact planning to destroy these vermin, in which case, let him golf, his policies are what count for the United States…..
Ferguson, MO
Even though the facts have not yet been revealed, the looting and vandalism continue in Ferguson, MO. after the shooting death of 18 year old Michael Brown a week or so ago. The officer involved in the shooting seems to have already been convicted of the crime despite the fact that ALL Americans are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Yesterday, Governor Jay Nixon called for an immediate and vigorous prosecution. Are you kidding me? This guy is a lawyer to boot. Of course Al Sharpton is or has been down there spewing his racist vitriol which incites the people to riot, loot and vandalize. Though he does have a Constitutional right to speak his mind, his ranting incites people to do wrong. I consider him a moron.
The fact is, in 2012 there were about 12 million police arrests made in the US with about 400 involving the use of deadly force, that’s about .000033 percent. Additionally, this has never happened in Ferguson before, the race baiters are just spewing lies to incite unrest in order to line their own pockets, as is typical of them. Another fact: Some 90 percent of deaths committed against black men are committed by black men (or women). Where is the outrage against black on black crime in our country?
Cease Fire Suspended
Cease fire talks were suspended Tuesday in Egypt after rockets from the Gaza Strip were fired into Israel once again. Israel responded as it should and actually succeeded in killing several Hamas leaders. Good for them.
US raw steel production
… increased 1.2 percent last week from the previous week as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate (ACUR) of 79.8 percent. In the corresponding week last year mills operated at an ACUR of 77.6 percent. For the year, mills have operated at an ACUR of 77 percent up 0.5 percent in the same period last year.
Conference Board Leading Economic Index
On Thursday the Conference Board Leading Economic Index was released for July. The index increased 0.9 percent following a 0.6 percent increase in June and a 0.6 percent increase in May.
The LEI improved sharply in July, suggesting the economy is gaining traction and growth should continue at a strong pace for the remainder of the year.”

Spying on our Allies, specifically Angela Merkel of Germany. No one held accountable. The president was unaware. (Although these things go on knowingly between countries all the time, the fact that our president denies knowledge of this is just another sign of his incompetence as the leader of the most powerful country on the planet).
