It is Friday, the Institute for Supply Management has released its latest report on business:

Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in December for the seventh consecutive month and the overall economy grew for the 55th consecutive month. The PMI registered 57 percent, the second highest reading of the year, just 0.3 percentage point below November’s reading of 57.3 percent.

In other news, the December Chicago Business Barometer softened to 59.1 from 63.0 in November, the second consecutive monthly decline following October’s surge to 65.9, the highest since March 2011.

Not bad news for the first week of the new year, I’ll take it.

Hope you had an enjoyable holiday season in 2013. We have a fresh new year ahead of us, let us go forward and make the best of it.
