Economic Expectations Continue to Improve

Consumer confidence rose in September by the most in more than 17 years as economic expectations continue to improve.

Texas Manufacturing Expands for Fourth Consecutive Month

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas released it Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey and reports Texas factory activity expanded in September for the fourth month in a row. The production index, a key measure of state manufacturing conditions, rose 9 points to its highest reading in 2 years.

Other measures of manufacturing activity point to above-average growth; the new orders index advanced, the growth rate of orders held steady, the capacity utilization index also rose while the shipments index was largely unchanged.

Perceptions of broader business conditions continued to improve. The general business activity index advanced to its highest level since November 2018.

The Midwest Economy Index (MEI), which approximates quarterly growth at a monthly frequency, rose to +1.59 in August from -3.58 in July. Contributions to the August MEI from all four broad sectors of nonfarm business activity and all five Seventh Federal District states increased from July.

There were 261 drill rigs running in the US last week, up six from the previous week but down 599 from one year ago. Meanwhile, Canadian drillers operated 71 rigs last week, up 7 from the prior week but down 56 rigs from 1 year ago.

In the week ending 9/26, US raw steel production was 1,480,000 net tons with an ACUR of 66.1 percent. The production rate is up 2.4 percent from the previous week.

Construction spending rose 1.4% during September. A robust rise in residential more than offset a small decline in the nonresidential category.

Job creation slowed to 661,000 with 7.9% unemployment last month. The US economy has revered a bit more than half of the payrolls lost to21 the pandemic.

Trump’s Taxes

The shit-show this week brings up an old subject-Trump’s taxes. The fact is the tax laws have been made by the crooks in Washington in order to protect themselves and their wealthy donors. The president has done nothing illegal, he has taken advantage of our tax code, which is inequitable to the working man and woman, no doubt. Ask some of the millionaire legislators to provide their taxes and you will find much the same, as with all wealthy people.

I understand that Biden and Harris both released their 2019 tax returns on Tuesday. Harris’ net worth, according to Fortune, is thought to be around $6.3 million, as of 2018 Biden’s net worth was approximately $1 million. Now that I do not believe, he was vice president for 8 years under Obama and Barack is loaded, I am sure Biden dipped his beak, or else his son is funneling him money from his dealings with China and the Ukraine.

2020 First Presidential Debate

The first Presidential debate of the 2020 election cycle took place on Tuesday night. In my view, the debate was a non-event. Neither man hurt nor helped himself. Mr. Biden did better than expected, but the bar for him was set low. President Trump was his usual self-when attacked, he hits back-harder. This is the same man we saw in 2015/2016. Chris Wallace, the moderator, was terrible, obviously biased to favor Biden, a sham. From my perspective, Trump should have been more composed; spoken of his record, refute accusations with fact, and paint his picture of his 2nd term. There are 2 more debates ahead of us…time will tell.

The President and First Lady Tested Positive for Covid-19

Friday it was announced the President and First Lady have both tested positive for covid and are quarantining at the White House. We wish them both a speedy recovery.

Former FBI Director James Comey Testifies

Former FBI Director James Comey “testified (lied)” to Congress that he didn’t know or didn’t remember when asked numerous questions about issues with the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia even though he presided over the investigation in 2016 and 2017. Twenty times during questioning he said he didn’t know or couldn’t recall. What a bunch of horse shit. It makes my blood boil that to this day, we have caught these people in lie upon lie and yet no one has been charged or sentenced. From Obama to Clinton, to Comey, to Brennan, to Clapper, to page, to Strozk. All of them have been found to have committed federal crimes and yet they continue to walk free. More horse shit.

This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term, but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….
