New York State Business Activity Grew Modestly in July

New York State business activity grew modestly in July, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York Empire State Manufacturing Survey for July 2017.

The number of drill rigs running in the US held steady last week as gains in Texas and Utah (up by three and two respectively) offset declines in Alaska, Louisiana and Oklahoma (each down by two). Meanwhile Canadian drilling gained by 16 rigs compared with the previous week.

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for the US Increased 0.6 percent in June

The index has been positive for 12 consecutive months but July’s reading is the lowest since November.

The US LEI rose sharply in June pointing to continued growth in the US economy and perhaps even a moderate improvement in GDP growth in the second half of the year” said Ataman Ozyildirim, Director of Business Cycles and Growth Research at the Conference Board. “The broad based gain in the US LEI was led by a large contribution from housing permits, which improved after several months of weakness.”

Repeal and Replace

I don’t know about you, but I am sickened by the obvious lack of ability, or the lack of compassion needed to fix the health care debacle displayed by our legislators. Both sides of the political aisle have known for 8 years that the ACA was going to be a sinking ship, overly burdensome, overly complicated, and overly costly. And yet, the Democrats have failed, along with the Republicans, to offer ANY solutions to fix the problem THEY have created.

The Republicans, for their part, had campaigned for 8 years on a promise to repeal and replace, yet they did ZERO in the past 8 years to plan for and have ready, a program to do just that. What are we paying these idiots to do? It is not this and it is obvious our elected officials care only for themselves, retaining their positions of power and saying whatever they need to in order to stay in office.

This is utter bullshit and I encourage each and every one of us to write to your Senators and Representatives and express your displeasure. Let them know, in no uncertain terms, that they will lose your vote if they do not get their shit together. DRAIN THE SWAMP

I wrote to both Senator Rob Portman and Senator Sherrod Brown this morning (Wednesday), basically expressing my disappointment at their lack of action on healthcare and other things.

It was announced Wednesday afternoon that Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has been diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer. Our prayers are with him as he engages in another battle for his life. A long time senator, prisoner of war during the Viet Nam conflict, a true patriot.

OJ Simpson to be Set Free

OJ Simpson was granted parole on Thursday and will be set free on October 1, 2017. In my opinion, the courts made a poor decision. Everyone knows he murdered his wife and her friend in cold blood and I know he was incarcerated on other charges butt the sentence imposed by the court was certainly related to the murder of those innocent people.

I will track these campaign promises and will check them off as each is accomplished adding those I have missed as they become apparent. This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….

TEDDY ROOSEVELT ON IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA…1907

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag…We have room for but one language here and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
