Sales Outpaced Inventory in November
Sales outpaced inventory in November 2017. Businesses increased inventories by 0.4 percent in November but sales grew roughly three times that pace, climbing 1.2 percent. The ratio of inventories to sales continued its recent trend decline. Wells Fargo
US Raw Steel Production Up the First Week of 2018
US raw steel production was up in the first week of 2018 as mills operated at an ACUR of 70.7%. in the corresponding week last year mills operated at an ACUR of 74.5%. Thus far this year mills have produced prox 1,649,000 tons, compared to the prox 1,736,000 tons produced in the like period last year. If the reported ACUR of 70.7% is correct, that is a dismal start for capacity utilization. We’ll see what happens next week…
Kentucky Electric Steel to Cease in February | Hamilton Specialty Bar in Canada Forced into Receivership
Some disconcerting news: Kentucky Electric Steel will cease operations in February and Hamilton Specialty Bar in Canada is being forced into receivership by Wells Fargo Capital Finance citing severe liquidity problems at the mill.
Tax Cut Effects
The government estimates that more than 90% of workers will have bigger paychecks under the withholding changes resulting from the tax rate reductions and says employers should implement changes by February 15, 2018.” WSJ 1/12/18
There are many companies already giving bonus’ or hourly wage increases because of the tax cuts recently made law but if you listen to the morons on the left, you would think taxes were raised on everyone (Wal-Mart, the largest employer in the country raised their minimum wage to $11.00 an hour from $10.00. That is a 10% increase in pay and nothing to sneeze at).
Those who make (I believe) over $1million a year will have their own higher tax rates and tax cuts to corporations, as you can see by my first sentence above, will in fact, go to the workers to a large degree, to investment in plants and equipment and to the shareholders. That is the normal course of business and for these idiots to make a political football out of it just highlights their collective economic ignorance.
2020 Election Speculations
I think I am going to vomit. The big news this weekend, after the Golden Globe awards, is that Oprah Winfrey is considering making a run for the presidency in 2020. This is utter lunacy but the Democrat party is and has been struggling to find an identity, a standard bearer, but someone who will rally people to what? Higher taxes? Open borders? A weakened military? An entitlement society? A genderless society? Leading the world from behind? I could go on but know you get the idea.
Exactly what are her qualifications to be President of the United States? She is black? She is a woman? TV host? Made a movie or two? This is preposterous. Let her run, if that is all they have, conservative government will continue to advance the American way of life.
DACA for Democrats
The Center for American Progress says action on DACA is essential as a vote getter for Democrats. This was from an internal email and not likely intended for publication, but we ALL know and understand the motives of the left. They do not have a platform for change worthy of calling it that. To wit…Oprah Winfrey being encouraged to run for president? What will be the platform they espouse for the American people? Higher taxes? Open borders? A continuation of the ACA? A weaker military? Ignoring ISIS and other terrorist groups? Leading from behind? Liberal Supreme Court appointees? That would all be a road leading to nowhere good for this country and her citizens.
I am going to rant for a minute. Thursday night the “he is a racist” remarks started spewing out of the left because the president asked “why do we want people from these shithole countries (like Haiti, EL Salvador etc.) coming into our country?” Well, why do we?
Is the United States supposed to be the toilet for all the losers in the world? What is wrong with a merit based system of immigration? Do we not want and welcome the best and the brightest? Those with a desire to love our country, to contribute to our society, to be true Americans. Who in this country, besides the left, wants to welcome losers, criminals, entitlement seekers, those who do not want to work???? The president is correct in making this statement and a thank you is due him for speaking the truth.

I will track these campaign promises and will check them off as each is accomplished adding those I have missed as they become apparent. This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….

TEDDY ROOSEVELT ON IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA…1907
In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag…We have room for but one language here and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
